Sergej Vutuc - Real / Unreal

The city becomes an infinite and creative playground, so the materials he finds. As he says everything is adaptable, playful and changeable and his big fortune was from his early ages, to be connected to situations and surrounded by a circle of people that brought him to be ingenious, creative and original.

Living in a sort of dreamlike status wishing to live aside the given boundaries and capitalistic trends, Vutuc uses the camera as a tool to grasp merged moments and the board to explore and find inspirations through the city.

Blending negatives he creates pictures that are telling different stories through his particular ethereal aesthetic that is a way to avoid limits and labels.

Blurred, scratched, overlapped and obscured pictures depict moments in various urban environments. Stories that don't have a beginning nor an end, part of figures in unclear places and desolated spots. Every shot releases a particular energy, as there is a hidden happening around the corner, something that has to arise from a moment to another or a concealed occurrence.

The viewer get confused trying to recognize the locations of the snapshots for the few given details and for the combined images in the development process. The pictures are combined with mystery and attractive ambiguity. The same approach is used in his publications.

These aspects make the observer at first perplexed but also intrigued by the blurry images wishing to understand more, to see details in stratified slides.

The goal however is not understanding but rather looking, feeling, perceiving and imagining.

Other pictures are dedicated to the city players-explorers. real
As a skateboarder himself he shots the acrobatics of guys like him that play with the city structure and domain where the asphalt becomes an interesting layer to experiment movements, and the metal fences and banks become lift for jumps and fascinating twists in the air.

Travelling and exhibiting through Morocco, Ukraine, Croatia, Germany, France, Netherlands, Canada, USA and Japan he deeply explores cities with his attentive and sharp-witted look, having an aware and outspoken approach as well as a strong fascination in documenting some locations and moments, that, perceived as real/unreal, are part of his own dreamlike and playful imaginary, resulting as a creative power voyage for the mind and senses of the curious onlookers.
